OpenSnap

Live

Screenshot and OCR widget for Windows. C# WPF. AGPLv3. Available on the Microsoft Store.

1. Floating Glass Capsule UI

OpenSnap lives on your screen as a translucent 240x36 px glass capsule — click to capture full screen, active window, or drag-select an area. Drag to move it anywhere. No menus, no setup. One click, saved and copied.

2. Three Capture Modes

Full multi-monitor desktop, active window, or area selection — all accessible from the same floating pill. Use Win+Shift+S for full screen and Win+Shift+W for active window. The area selector shows a crosshair with pixel dimensions.

3. Built-in OCR via Windows Engine

Extract text from any screen region using the Windows OCR engine. Text is copied to your clipboard alongside the image. Supports English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese — switch anytime in Settings.

4. Post-Capture Workflow

After capture: copy the image to clipboard, run OCR, open in Paint for quick annotations, reveal in File Explorer, or open with your preferred image editor. Custom filename templates support project prefixes, sequential numbering, and date-based subfolders.

5. Privacy-First and Local-Only

No login, no cloud, no telemetry. Every screenshot stays on your machine. OpenSnap is a C# WPF application for Windows with configurable hotkeys, system tray integration, and auto-start on boot.
